Basketball Basics serves with pride on the board of No More Sidelines. We help arrange gym time with area High Schools and Colleges. But it is not simple gym time we are interested in. We involve the school's student athletes in a mentoring and modeling situation with No More Sideline's 200 special needs kids. The student athletes coach, referee, supervise, substitute, problem solve, play and administer the program, with guidance from our staff.
The pictures say it all.

"I have been involved with No More Sidelines for years and have found my time working with these wonderful people and their families a true joy in my life.
I'm the Principal of Reeths-Puffer High School and have hosted both basketball and track events at our school. The students from my high school were involved in assisting our NMS kids with practice and coaching prior to the event and came away with a renewed sense of what it means to truly give of oneself.
Cyndi Blair and her crew are very organized and go well beyond the call of duty to insure that the NMS participants have a great experience in every planned event.
We plan to host another basketball event as well as a track invitational in the spring.
I would be happy to answer any questions that you might have with regard to our connection to NMS."
Sincerely,
Dan Beckeman

We highly encourage your school to participate with No More Sidelines. No two-hour commitment will create more perspective and honest community service for your student-athletes. Please also note this experience for your players carries great weight with college admissions and job applications. Beyond what this association may or may not do for the player, school or community, it's simply the right thing to do.
If your school's name is NOT on the list below, consider participating this year . Please call and we will set up a time for your student-athletes to mentor and model for this great group of kids. Generally, here's how it works:
Get ready! These are outstanding community and school related events.

If your community is interested in offering a No More Sidelines organization in your area, please contact us. It's simple and only costs love, commitment and dedication to those less fortunate than us.
Our affiliation with No More Sidelines is one of our proudest and most productive associations. This is a group of 200 special needs kids and young adults. Basketball Basics helps coordinate facilities where these kids can play. Not just basketball. We've played hoops of course, but we've also played baseball, bowling, soccer and Track and Field. We've also gone to the symphony among other cultural trips.
I feel most strongly about the impact these kids can have on the regular ed student-athletes who serve as mentors and coaches for a few hours. The pictures at the right say it all. It is a marvelous mix of disadvantaged kids with some of our best, brightest and most athletic kids. These sessions teach patience, perspective, flexibility, initiative and friendship.
The web site is www.NoMoreSidelines.org. We are always looking for new things to do, so if you have any ideas, please don't hesitate to call or e-mail. Of couse, this is a not-for-profit organization. If you would like to help in anyway, this list of needs is a peek at how you can help. At the very least, come on out and cheer the kids on!
