Team Sponsorship

Sponsoring a Team(s) or uniforms creates great exposure for your organization and defrays and/or eliminates additional costs for our players.  We are seeking 2 different types of sponsorship

1. Sponsor an AYBT team into the events; Limited to 2 sponsors per team.  $600 for co-sponsorship, $1200 for 1 sponsor (see dates, locations below)  This permits banner placement at all venues that team plays.  The banner would be retained and then hung in our Ferrysburg gym for 1 year.  (Banner cost ASSUMED by Basketball Basics)

7th Grade Girls AYBT 2011

EX: “XYZ Corporation would like to co-sponsor the Basketball Basics 7th Grade Girls team. $600 enclosed.”

NOTE: Team sponsorship will defray or pay for entirely the team’s AYBT costs.

2. Sponsor the uniforms. THESE SPOTS WERE ALL TAKEN for 2011's teams  Your logo and/or web site somewhere on the uniform.  The kids keep the uniforms.  You may sponsor 1, 2 or more teams.  You may pre-register for 2012's teams.

EX: “ABC Company would like to sponsor the HS Boys  and 7th Grade Girls team uniforms.  Our logo, web site and art are attached.  $490 X 2 teams is enclosed.”

Gage Motor Mall in Grand Haven is sponsoring our 8th Grade Boys uniforms.  Thanks Gage!

AYBT HS Boys 2011

Basketball Basics was involved with AYBT for the 1st time in 2011.  We believe if we prepare appropriately in practice, work hard on our conditioning and constantly work at sharpening our fundamental skills, we will be able to compete with anybody.

This is the summary page for our 2011 teams.  Team photos, rosters, game sites/dates and other pertinent information for our players and parents are below.

For 2012 AYBT infromation and to register for March try outs, go to our AYBT home page.

Scrimmage with the Muskegon High School AYBT team, thanks Coach Churchwell!!

8th Grade Boys team coached by Jim McGannon

    8th Grade Boys AYBT 2011
Visit from NFL QB and terrific local basketball coach, Gary Hogeboom.  Gary spoke with our kids about teamwork, hard work and dedication. Gary Hogeboom
  1. Overall Record: 5-10
  2. Great wins over both Grand Haven 8th Grade teams and Ludington.  Two very close losses to West Michigan Christian, and 4 other losses by fewer than 5 points.
  3. Two true 6th Graders and three 7th graders playing up.  Great habit.
  4. It became clear quickly that most other teams did NOT have younger kids.  While our kids progressed and competed hard, the age and strength differential at this level (8th Grade boys) was more significant than at the high school levels (see above)
  5. Improvement in moving without the ball, again we often struggled with this basic principle.
  6. This team also exhibited excellent team chemistry.  This is a tribute to the maturity of the older players, who were patient and inclusive with the younger kids.  Note we had the following schools represented on this 1 team: Grandville, Kenowa Hills, N. Muskegon, Spring Lake, Grand Haven, Reeths Puffer, Shores, Hesperia, West Michigan Christian, Calvary Christian and St. Marys.
  7. Mikan and Reverse Mikan high scores follow.  These are TRUE INDICATIONS of a player's foot skills, ability to keep the ball up and dexterity with both hands near the hoop.
  8. There is no better preparation for March AYBT try outs than our Winter Middle School Boys series.

HS Girls AYBT 2011

  1. Overall Record: 12-8
  2. 3 True 8th Graders (9th next year) playing up.   Great habit.
  3. Several scrimmages with Muskegon Wizards taught us the meaning of court vision and running the court
  4. Excellent improvement in moving without the ball, again we often struggled with this basic principle.
  5. Outstanding contributions from two of GVSU's best players, Alex Stelfox and Kara Crawford.  Thanks to Coach Burgess for their reference.
  6. Terrific team chemistry, the girls got to know one another and I believe it helped on and off the court.  This speaks highly of our older players, who led by example and were inclusive in their approach.
  7. Mikan and Reverse Mikan high scores follow.  These are TRUE INDICATIONS of a player's foot skills, ability to keep the ball up and dexterity with both hands near the hoop.

    01-B MHS vs Basketball Basics

HS Boys scrimmaging with the Muskegon Wizards, many thanks to Coach Churchwell for helping set up these practice/scrimmages.   They offer great benefit for both squads.

M-LIVE article: High School Boys go undefeated in Ludington, 5-0.

  1. Overall Record:  11-4
  2. Key wins over Montague (twice), Shelby, West Michigan Christian, Ludington, Speice (Indiana), Sports Power (GR)
  3. Won 7 in a row at 1 point
  4. Lost close games to Muskegon and South Christian
  5. Beat a local AAU team in a controlled scrimmage
  6. Players learned to move without the ball, although we struggled at times.  We were very tough to deal with when we moved without the ball.
  7. We really competed on the boards.  Our record reflects our toughness on the glass more than any other basic skill.
  8. Three practice games with the Muskegon Wizards taught us the meaning of speed and how to prepare for it.  Thanks Coach Churchwell.
  9. Mikan and Reverse Mikan high scores follow.  These are TRUE INDICATIONS of a player's foot skills, ability to keep the ball up and dexterity with both hands near the hoop.
