Summer Camp Summary:
3 point shooting and free throw contests for older groups.
All players get a shirt and discounts at Dick's Sporting Goods
PLAYING UP; Highly encouraged. 7th Grade Boy in Blue Shirt is Spencer Krannitz playing with 10th, 11th and 12th graders. Arguably the best high school player in Michigan now.
Playing Up is NOT for everybody. Players must be willing to get beat and deal with bigger, stronger, faster players. Talk to Coach McGannon first before playing your son or daughter up.

"Thank you very much for putting together camps to develop players in West Michigan! At Michigan, we strive to be solid fundamentally on the offensive end and to frustrate teams with our defense, so we are definitely on your side! You are running things in a terrific fashion....keep up the great work."

Morning camps at UNIQUE and terrific setting for skill development and FOCUS. Coach McGannon's home court in Spring Lake. Evening Camps at Basketball Basics Gym in Ferrysburg.
Many Middle Schools still play their 7th and 8th Grade GIRL'S seasons in the Fall, with try outs in late August or after Labor Day. Camps 10 and 11 are positioned here for Pre-Season Try Out preparation. These fill each year, 12 player limit.
____________________________________________________________________________"My husband and I are thankful for the basketball skills you taught our daughter over the 2 months prior to her try outs. She has NEVER PLAYED BASKETBALL before, but wanted to try out for the 7th Grade team this year. We received GREAT news yesterday.....she made it!! They had to cut around 20 girls so she was very nervous. The coach actually said that her shooting skills and footwork really stood out. That has everything to do with your instruction. Thank you so much!
I believe every girl who attended your clinics from Mal's class also made the team. Thanks again, I would like to sign her up for the August Summer Camp as well. I will send the check tomorrow.

Basketball Basics Gym in Ferrysburg: terrific instructional facility. 6 new hoops, newly refinished floor.

Our 3 Core Values describe why our Summer Camps are effective and often full:
Limit the number of players. Most gyms have too many kids to achieve any kind of measureable improvement. 12 players max.
Provide strong fundamental instruction based on the game's key skills. (Vision, Footwork and Ball Handling) We build competitive habits through repetition and reinforcement of THESE SKILLS.
Weave into the instruction basic life skills that apply ON and OFF the court

Our AYBT teams were recently treated to a visit from Gary Hogeboom. After a stellar college career at Central Michigan, Coach Hogeboom played quarterback for 11 years in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts. His points of emphais were:
Gary has greatly aided the Grand Haven High School basketball programs. His girl's freshman team of 2009-10 went undefeated (20-0) and he assisted on the varsity this year as the team achieved a number 1 ranking in the state, Class A, finishing at 26-1. Gary's daughter, as well as over 90% of the GHHS players in both the boys and girls high school programs, have come through Basketball Basics.
