1. These basic drills (2:24) plus the 2. Wall Drill and Short Shooting (1:33) equal 3. players who can shoot like this. (1:01) This young man is a 9th grader who has attended many shooting clinics, and still does. He can really stroke it because he is properly positioned, extends beautifully, has a quick release and can shoot it under pressure. This is what these clinics can do for your sons and daughters.

Dates and times in Left Hand Navigation. Shooting Clinics, in conjunction with any of our other Basketball Instruction, will teach your sons and daughters to shoot better and under pressure. Competitive players make plays under pressure.
Open to both genders ages 10 and UP. We do not scrimmage, although there will be several competitive shooting games. Players basically will compete against themselves in these games.
The 1st 30 minutes will strictly be PROCESS DRILLS, with no basket permitted, no makes, no misses, no results. This will greatly aid in building the player's shooting form, the proper mechanics and a quicker, more reliable release.
The 2nd 30 minutes will include shooting baskets. The players will learn to EXTEND, to use their FEET correctly (both by jumping to the ball and learning to create space off the dribble using their INSIDE PIVOT) and to learn how to protect the ball with their body as they shoot.
We have had success teaching players to shoot more consistently.
________________________________________________________________________________
Please note many Shooting Clinics are purposefully scheduled adjacent to other instruction, so your son or daughter may attend both with 1 trip to the gym. A one on one session and shooting clinic is a great combination. This will allow the 1 on 1 instruction to be focused on skills other than shooting given we have a full hour to shoot if the player registers for both. Our Pre-Season Prep programs are terrific in tandem with shooting as well.
Coach McGannon runs all Shooting Clinics. Open to players 10 years old and UP, both boys and girls. We do NOT scrimmage, it does not matter how old or capable a player is to improve with this strong shooting instruction.
Players who have strong, repeatable mechanics are better shooters. We build these mechanics with tested skill drills that create competitive habits. Players will shoot approximately 400-500 times in these 1 hour clinics. 2 to 3 clinics are recommended for players who are just learning to shoot or who are struggling to shoot consistently. The reinforcement of the correct mechanics, along with another 400-500 repetitions, will begin to build the habits required to shoot quickly and consistently.
NOTE: One on One instruction can often be piggy backed on either side of these shooting clinics.
Shooting Clinics held at the Basketball Basics Gym in Ferrysburg. Max: 12 players

Catch and Shoot Drill: 46 seconds. The Catch and Shoot trains a player to catch a pass and shoot the ball in the same motion.
1. Jump to the ball, do not wait for the pass to arrive: go get it. Do not walk into the pass; JUMP TO THE BALL.
2. As the ball is being caught, go UP to shoot. DO NOT BRING THE BALL DOWN. Ball should never be dribbled in this drill.
3. EXTEND on the jump shot. Younger players should try to release the shot at least head high, older, stronger players should extend well above the head with the ball being released as fully extended as possible.
___________________________________________________________________
Extension Drill: This drill teaches the player to extend as fully as possible on the jump shot. The most competitive players can fully extend on the release.

Now also offering Free Throw Clinics. Control the free throw sequence, eliminate external stimuli and pull the trigger with confidence. Free throws determine more games than any other single skill. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for high school players in particular.
